A LITTLE BREWPUB HISTORY

Market Street Brewing Co. & Restaurant was founded in June of 1997 by Theresa and Pelham McClellan. Located on historic Market Street in downtown Corning, NY the brewpub embodies the essence of the  microbrew revolution. With six fresh beers brewed right on premise, and delectable “upscale” menu, Market Street Brewing Co. & Restaurant provides only the finest food and drink to our estimable patrons. Open seven days a week with rooftop seating and a bier-garten to compliment our dining room, bring the family and enjoy Corning’s first brewpub.

The Building
After major renovation of the building by owners, Theresa and Pelham McClellan, we received the PAN AWARD from New York State. The award is given to individuals that restore and preserve buildings located in historic districts.
The Bar
The bar is a combination of different wood, cherry, walnut and mahogany. All the pieces are antique and were restored by Mark Cherry, owner of Architectural Antique Exchange located in Philadelphia, PA. The back bar came out of a wealthy and prominent family in Philadelphia. The columns are from an antebellum home in Atlanta, GA. The top of the back bar is out of a bar that was being demolished in Philadelphia. The front bar also was saved from destruction, as once again a neighborhood establishment was being demolished in the name of progress. The pieces arrived, followed by Mark Cherry and his crew and assembled on premises.

The Bar Mirror
Created by renowned glass engraver, Max Erlacher, whose previous work included the engravings on a piece of Steuben that was presented to Princess Di and Prince Charles to celebrate their wedding as a gift from the USA.
The Windows
There are three antique lead filled windows at the brewpub; 2 in the dining room and 1 in the stairway leading to the deck. These windows were purchased from the Architectural Antique Exchange in Philadelphia. They were home to a local bar that was about to be demolished, Mark called Theresa wanting to know if she would be interested in buying them. She was, She did and here they are.
